We met through Chi Alpha while we were students at LSU (GEAUX TIGERS!). After graduating, we began serving with XA as campus ministers. For the past 8 years, we've been on staff with XA at the University of Virginia leading various aspects of the ministry, like communications and large-group meetings. Working in XA has taught us a great deal about ministering to secular peoples and the process of faithful discipleship.
In our time with Chi Alpha at UVA, we led many short-term mission trips with our students to Granada, Spain. Over the years, God kept increasing our burden for secular Spanish peoples and the need for Gospel witness among them. We decided to be faithful to what God was placing on our hearts and in 2020 we started the process of becoming missionaries to Spain.
Although Spain culturally considers itself a Christian nation, the reality is that approximately 1% of Spanish nationals claim a personal relationship with Jesus. Even if a Spaniard is interested in learning about Jesus, they may not know someone who knows someone who knows the Gospel. In other words, access to the Gospel is not the same in Spain.
Secularism is the issue at hand– God has been replaced by "self." For the average Spaniard, and most Europeans, their "self" is the ultimate authority and guiding force on all things religious, moral, ethical, relational, etc. We seek to be a voice in the middle of the apathetic darkness that calls people to "lose yourself," (Mark 8:35). For this reason, we lose ourselves for the sake of planting disciple-making movements among the least-reached Spaniards.
Our ministry focuses on holistic, church-planting initiatives among secular Spanish people. We work with a church-planting team of missionaries currently in Granada. Our work includes regular family and university outreaches, a church-plant, and intentional relationships with secular Spaniards
Though we love the city of Granada and enjoy ministering here, our call is to Secular Europeans. So we are continuously open to where else in Spain God may send us to through this call he has placed on our hearts.
